Whew, It is hot.
We always get the question; is the hot weather hard on the grape vines?
The answer is yes, and no. Generally speaking the hot weather is not a problem, if it is hot and dry, it tends to keep the fungi away. If the temperature gets above about 98, the vines tend to really slow down their processes and start stressing.
So we don't like it to be too hot, but it can get pretty warm and still be ok with them.
So now you know if you ever wondered. ;-)

Udall High School Prom -2010
Wow, what a wonderful event!
Everyone laughed and ate, and danced, and have a terrific time.
The DJ knew how to rock the place, and the dresses and ties were amazing!!!
These young people really know how to throw a party, and we were thrilled to have the Udall High School Junior Senior Prom.
(OF course, folks, it was non-alcoholic but there was some sparkling grape juice in attendance!)

The Vineyard is Budding
Pruning is done - WOO HOO
We are always thrilled to have that little chore behind us.
And just in time, too, because the leaves are coming out and spring is on the way.
We planted a few new types of grapes to see how they are going to do here in our vineyards.
Later this year I will try to get some pictures on the blog so you can see how they 'look', and we can decide together if you like the way they are growing.
Try not to be too hard on them, they are babies!

Valentines Dinner 2010
We had a wonderful and well-attended Valentines' Gourmet Valentines Dinner Event - the chocolate pasta dish was too fun!
Windswept Winery had six courses (The best we can remember after all the fabulous Windswept Wines and eating and eating and EATING.)
Everyone had a fabulous time, and of course we are already planning the next one! We have a 'zinger' or two planned for next year.
Remember very limited reservations are taken, and we can get you on the list anytime during the year.

Snows on the vines
We have had some snows...have you noticed?
The vines are all safely in dormancy, so all is well with them.
We are just hopeful that they will not bud early and then have a late freeze. That is very hard on the vines, and on the wines that come from them.
The last few years have been tough ones for the freezes in the spring, so hopefully we have a 'gentle' spring in store.
